Entering the twitter world!

posted April 5, 2011 by Teena

Hello Everyone!

My name is Teena Cardozo, QCA's graphic designer, production artist and social media coordinator.

Question for you... Have you ever put much thought as to why social media is becoming such a huge marketing force? Maybe because it produces legitimate results. Don't believe me? Check out these stats:

  • During the average 20-minute period in 2010, there were: 1,5870,000 wall posts, 2,716,000 photos uploaded and 10,208,000 comments posted. (AllFacebook.com)
  • More than 250 million people use Facebook Connect every month. (Facebook)
  • Since April, Twitter has gained 40 million users and a 62 percent increase in mobile use of the platform (Source: ClickZ)
  • The average American Internet user watches 30 minutes of video online per day [40 percent increase over 2009] (comScore) Compared to 5 hours of television per day.

Now there is a little information to wake you up! Social media is such a huge part of society now-a-days that even Webster's Dictionary is jumping on the bandwagon. Did you hear about the new words the dictionary has added? LOL, OMG, and muffin-top. While muffin-top has nothing to do with social media, LOL and OMG most certainly do. Now if you are sitting in your chair asking yourself "Umm what does LOL and OMG mean?" YOU are exactly the type of person who should be reading this. LOL = Laughing Out Loud and OMG = Oh My God. These social media phrases have been used so much it has become part of everyday language. Pretty crazy huh?

It would blow your mind the amount of people you can reach through social media venues. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Youtube, Blogger just to name a few. You are probably thinking which one is better? Which is the right one to pursue? Well, that is all up to the type of audience you are trying to reach. Doing your homework on the vast variety of venues is the way to go.

QCA is dedicated to maintaining our status as the first choice provider of quality communications solutions. What better way to continue this title then to become apart of the Powerhouse called Social Media!

Stay connected to QCA through twitter, facebook, and blogger.
