EVERY DAY WE WORK TOWARDS OUR FULL POTENTIAL
Ian Hill, whose strength and commitment, makes him the ultimate leader, made one thing very clear to me recently when speaking to my organization. He reminded me that my corporate vision is about excellence and excellence requires that every day we work towards our full potential. So I had to ask myself… Am I living each day to my full potential? Am I doing what I love? Because if I'm not, how am I ever going to get there. How am I going to help you get there?
I know what excites me, but have I stayed true to what I want from life, and have I kept my eyes open to all of the opportunities? As it stands now, despite all of our differences, we are all born with one very important thing in common… POTENTIAL. What's difficult, however, is remembering that our potential for greatness lies within each of us. I know I want to be great, I think we all do, especially when it comes to serving others, but what I don't know is how do I truly recognize my true potential? How am I supposed to inspire (to be great) when amidst the daily bump and grind I'm not even sure how to realize the power I have within?
What am I doing right? What I am I doing wrong? How do I truly become an agent of hope? These are all questions I have. And now, in order to get (as well as to give) some answers, I found that I needed to break it down, so here's where I am…
The first step for me is always to REFLECT on my life. I probably commit to 30 minutes of quiet reflection everyday where I get away from any daily distractions such as cell phones, email, family, friends, employees -- anything that can possibly cloud my thoughts or influence my decisions. I put myself in a place where I'm able to open my mind and just think, imagine, visualize and dream. I think about my past, my present and my future. And I ask myself… What am I capable of? What are my strengths? Where do I really want to be?
Albert Einstein once said…"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions."
Becoming an optimist is also important. Any negative thought that you replay in your mind is surely a setback. I struggle at times, but I always work towards finding the positive in every situation. Also, I find that if I want to be happy, I have to set goals that liberate energy and inspire hope.
I know (as a wife, mother, friend, mentor and employer) I'm in a position to inspire, delegate and motivate. It's sometimes exhausting to inspire, difficult to delegate, but motivation is about helping people see their own potential and that's something I truly and most sincerely enjoy.
I know for me there's room for improvement and if I can change now, I know I can do anything, but what will I choose to do (differently) with my life? What will I choose to do with my time? So this is what I'm working on, and this is where I'm hoping I can make such improvements.
I recognize and appreciate that every day is a new day and with every new day… I see more clearly what's important to me as I move forward… I want to speak freely
I want to seek passionately
I want to dream realistically
I want balance
I want to live fully
I want to choose personally
I want to breathe easy
I want to wonder endlessly
I want to stand proudly
And, if I stay focused… maybe, just maybe I get closer to working towards my full potential. I'm committed to being better and to living better, and I'm hoping this helps! It comes down to simply CHOICE. Every day working towards our full potential is a choice, one that I thank God every day I have the ability to make.
Thank you for your interest and many blessings to you always,
